AH COUNTER
Introduction/Script
Role of an Ah Counter is to listen carefully to each speaker and note any filler words or sounds such as Ah, Um, You know, Like etc as well as any speaker specific repeated words and report the same towards end of the meeting. These fillers can detract from our message, so by tracking them, we become more aware of our speech habits and can work on improving our fluency.
Reporting can be...
Our SAA today used... 2 Ahs, 5+ likes and 1 You know...
Likewise all role players including Speakers, Evaluators, TT Speakers etc
Note: If a speaker uses more than 5 filler words, report it as '5+ fillers words not to be hard on them! This is not to tear down but to build each other up as better communicators.
Thanks, one and all, for allowing me the opportunity to serve in this capacity, and I look forward to our next meeting where together we can improve!
