GENERAL EVALUATOR (GE)
Introduction:
Welcome the audience and briefly state the purpose of the GE role. Start with few motivating words about the meeting, how well the overall meeting went, while briefly touching on the meeting's theme.
Explain the Role
As the General Evaluator (GE) of this meeting, my role is to observe and report on how the meeting went, focusing on how each role player performed, what they did well, and areas where they could improve.
Pre-Meeting Preparations:
- The meeting agenda and posters published in advance by excom
- Meeting venues must be neatly arranged
- Refreshments must be arranged for distribution
- A Greet Master must be at the entrance greeting members and guests as they walked in
- SAA
- Starts the meeting with high energy and/or small 30 secs physical activity or game to energize the crowd - as SAA sets the tone of the meeting
- Reads out Toastmasters Mission
- Was the Ground Rules explained?
- Keeping mobile devices on silent mode
- Abstain from moving around when a speaker is on stage
- Abstain from speaking or responding to any speaker unless asked
- Restroom breaks must be done towards end; if still you need, mention where the restrooms are located
- Abstain from topics covering Sex, Religion & Politics
- Gives a rousing introduction of the President and invited him to stage to officially open the meeting

- Acknowledge the presence of Dignitaries and thank the Coordinators for supporting the Club
- Take 30 seconds Guest intro - Name, School, and what brings them here
- Briefly touch base on Toastmasters, its History and Founder
- Delivers a short 1-2 min presidential message opening message
- Invites the G.O.D. with an enthusiastic introduction
- Word Master
- Explains the role of the Word Master
- Introduce an easy to use word that is not commonly used
- Explain the Part of the Speech - Noun, Verb Adjective etc
- Explain the usage by framing 1-2 sentences as examples
- Invites all if not majority of the audience to use the word in a sentence
- Gavelier of the Day (G.O.D.)
- Welcome all to the meeting with energy
- Reports if there are any changes to the Agenda which is already shared
- Introduce the theme /the idea /the concept
- Theme content will be well springled in between the various meeting roles; the total G.O.D script should be within 500-550 words
- While closing, it ideal to give a closing wrap up of the theme with some take away messages in sync with the theme
- Acknowledge the Silent Role Players (Greet Master, Timer and SAA)
- Introduces all roles players in sequence as in Agenda with their personal intro (Name, Class, School and their role)
- For Prepared Speeches, before calling out the Speaker, their respective Evaluators are asked to read out the speech objective.
- Tips/Report the below
- SAA never leave the stage empty
- Time management is the responsibility of the G.O.D.
- If time is exceeding, the them script must be reduced to align
- Lead the audience with Applause - while inviting and seeing off the role players to and from stage
- Prepare Speeches & Evaluation
- As its evaluated, no need to evaluate the speaker
- If the evaluator misses some important aspects of the speech or delivery, this can be highlighted in GE report
- Evaluators must give a motivational evaluation
- 2-3 good points, 1-2 areas of improvement
- Table Topics
- TT Master must explain the Table Topics and its importance
- Timing rules must be clearly explained (1.00 Green, 1.30 , 2.30
- Table Topics must be simple (4-6 words) and easy to respond
- Recommended to have topics aligned with meeting theme
- Book Master
- Explains the role
- Introduce a Book, its author and the subject it covers
- Why it was interesting to the Book Master and why one should consider it
- Share some interesting plots in the book
- Should not reveal the whole content or it mystery/conclusion so that the audience will feel curious to read
- Trivia Master
- Explains the role and why its important (improves listening skills)
- It has to be done in order without chaos
- Audience should be managed well
- Ah Counter & Word of the Day Reporting
- Explains the Role and why its important to control the filler words
- Report the various filler words; if usage of a filler word exceeds 5 times, it must be reported as 5+ (Gav Anandita used "like" 5+ times

- Explains the role
- Reports good usage and well as grammatical errors in a motivating fashion
- Timer
- Diligently take note of time for all role players as per agenda
- Delivers timers report only for Prepared Speeches, Table Topics Speakers and Evaluators
Quick Tips

- Focus on behavior that the speaker can change; avoid personal judgments.
- Balance praise with actionable suggestions.
- Be mindful of time; a typical GE report runs 7–10 minutes, depending on club norms.
- Maintain a supportive, encouraging tone to foster growth.
